2018-2019 Homeschool Calendar with Terms Planned!
I have spent a lot of time over the past couple of months planning our next school year, and some things are beginning to come to fruition 😊😊😊
One thing that really frustrated me last year was the time wasted and time required of me when we would finish something. Because I had not made a plan for our whole year, I was constantly having to figure out what we would do next in a certain subject, or what a certain child would read next, or what hymn we would learn next, or what Shakespeare play we would read next, etc. This was a misuse of my time, so I really wanted to remedy that this year.
By September, I will have a plan for the year. I expect the plan to change during the year. Of course it will! And that's okay - that's one of the beautiful things about homeschooling.
However, time won't be lost while I try to figure out what's next.
This is so wonderful and helpful in two ways:
That's a win-win!!
I am definitely noticing that the more children we have, the more efficient I need to be. Hopefully, these plans will help with that.
First is our school calendar. I have our weeks counted out into five terms. I don't know anyone else who does it like this, but it works really well for our family. The terms are based on the seasons and the liturgical calendar. I love that we have both Holy Week and Easter Week off. It also works really well that our longest term is the first term.
First, I made a calendar that counts the weeks for the school year:
Then I have Morning Time and Nap Time School planned for the year. This is our first year doing nap time school. I think this is going to be a really positive change. Celeste at Joyous Lessons is the one who brought this idea to my attention again, and I think it will be really helpful now that we have some a large range of ages.
This is when I will do a lot of the reading aloud to the older kids, as well as do most of our keeping and handicrafts with big kid supplies.
Below are our five terms of Morning Time and Nap Time School planned.
Yay! Getting excited for the school year!
